08 March 2025
WiM Africa is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Africa’s foremost integrated marketing event, the Nedbank IMC Conference. WiM Africa – the regional branch of Women in Marketing (WiM) CIC, a global not-for-profit network dedicated to recognizing, connecting, educating, and celebrating women in the marketing, advertising and communications sector - sees this alliance as a powerful step forward in championing female leadership and creativity across the continent.
Female-owned and managed, Nedbank IMC’s commitment to engaging with top female thought leaders resonates deeply with our mission. IMC CEO Dale Hefer remarked, “This is a perfect fit for us,” a sentiment that mirrors our own dedication to elevating the voices of African women in marketing.
At WiM Africa, our mission is clear: to champion gender equality at the highest levels of marketing, to spotlight Africa’s marketing and creative talent on a global stage, and to empower future generations of women to lead. As WiM Director and WiM Africa Founder, Andrea Djan-Krofa, explains, “We're dedicated to making the business case for women in marketing – to showcase work that drives tangible results and bottom-line impact.”
This partnership with Nedbank IMC allows us to extend our reach, amplify diverse voices, and build a more innovative, balanced industry in Africa. We are especially excited to feature WiM Africa Advisor, Dr Gillian Hammah, who will be delivering a keynote presentation at Nedbank IMC 2025. Dr Hammah - renowned for her award-winning campaigns across Canada and Ghana and recognized as one of Ghana’s 50 most influential CMOs - will present on a topic that is at the forefront of today’s marketing debates: People or AI? The Business Decision Facing Marketers Today.
Dr Hammah’s keynote tackles the challenge CMOs face worldwide. While AI is celebrated for automating processes, generating rapid insights, and scaling content, marketing remains, at its core, about human connection, cultural understanding, and empathetic storytelling. As she aptly puts it, “AI is here to enhance, not replace, human creativity and expertise.”
In line with the conference theme of Marketing is Business®, her insights will guide industry leaders in striking the perfect balance between technological innovation and the human touch that drives genuine brand engagement.

Women in Marketing (WiM) CIC seeks to recognise, connect, educate, and celebrate women in the marketing, advertising, and communications sectors.
WiM Africa launched in 2018 at the Loeries Creative Week in Durban, South Africa. The inaugural event focused on the role the marketing and advertising industry plays in stereotypical representations of people in media and advertising.
WiM Africa's growing community now spans over 18 countries in Africa. WiM Africa is a member of the Unstereotype Alliance South Africa Chapter and the International Advertising Association (IAA) Africa region.
WiM Africa’s mission is simple: to champion gender equality at the highest levels of Africa’s marketing, advertising, and communications industries, showcasing the continent’s creative talent on the global stage and empowering future generations of African women to lead.
