Glowing from Cannes: WiM Africa at the 2025 Festival of Creativity

We’re still glowing in the magic of Cannes Lions 2025 — a milestone moment for Women in Marketing Africa and for two brilliant rising stars of African marketing: Ziada Abeid (Tanzania) and Enniye Timiebi (Nigeria).

As the WiM Africa Cannes Lions Pass winners, they stepped onto the Croisette and into the heart of the global creative industry — representing the next generation of African talent at one of the world’s most prestigious festivals.

Over five unforgettable days, they immersed themselves in all Cannes Lions had to offer. From headline talks in the Palais, to beachside panels, rooftop debates, and late-night gallery tours showcasing award-winning work — they made the most of every minute.

Just as impactful as the programming were the people. Ziada and Enniye met professionals from every corner of the globe, sparked conversations that could shape future careers and collaborations, and experienced the kindness of strangers — those moments of serendipity that make Cannes truly unique. Whether it was advice, encouragement, or just directions to the next venue, support was never far away.

As Ziada put it:

“It’s wild, inspiring, and an absolute joy to be surrounded by the who’s who of the creative world. Cannes Lions, you’re a sensory overload — in the best possible way!”

Unfortunately, not all of our winners were able to attend. Our third pass recipient was denied a visa just days before travel — without a valid explanation. She wasn’t the only one. The opportunity to attend Cannes Lions was lost to a system that too often places unnecessary barriers in the path of African talent.

As Eniola Ogunmekan put it simply:

“We go again in 2026.”
